Spring/Autumn

It’s Spring according to the calendar and the position of the Earth.

Oh wait!

That’s just the Northern Hemisphere. It’s autumn in the Southern Hemisphere.

Spring is a time of birth and rapid growth. It’s a time that shouts “youth.”

Autumn is a time of approaching cold and darkness and it whispers and whines of old age and death.

The Earth experiences spring and autumn at the same time. Near the Equator these season are less noticeable. Birth, growth, aging and death happen at the same time.

By the calendar I’m in the autumn of my life (late autumn). But this describes my body. Mentally and emotionally I feel like spring, full of growth.

I have been blessed with enough physical health so I can remain mentally, emotionally and spiritually young.

“Grow old along with me! The best is yet to be, the last of life, for which the first was made. Our times are in his hand who saith, ‘A whole I planned, youth shows but half; Trust God: See all, nor be afraid!”

In the Qur’an, it says, “The end is better than the beginning.” I have found this to be true. It takes an entire lifetime to complete the journey, and as Tecumseh said,
“When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home!” Beautiful post, brother!
