Ground hogs

We have a pair of Groundhogs (aka Whistle Pigs) that feed in our back yard. They visit usually after a period of rain when the clover blooms.

I hadn’t thought much about them.  I liked watching them.

The smaller one seems to be a new comer.  The Larger one has been around for a while.

I had blocked their access hole with dirt from the front flower bed (It was full of crushed rock).  The ground hog quickly dug through it.  I’ve let it alone since.

The groundhogs visits sporadically. They usually don’t come together.  Our yard is just one of their stops.

This is characteristic of the groundhog.  They borough extensively and can create extensive tunnel systems.

They are seekers. They search many avenues for what they need.

It seems that the animal feels safe in our yard.

It only takes what it needs.

I look for them it in the morning while I’m getting my coffee ready.

I hope they continue to come by.  I feel blessed when they do.
